Consider/Approve Increase in School Meals


Background Information :

School Program regulations require school food authorities participating in the National School Lunch Program to ensure sufficient funds are provided to the nonprofit school food service account for meals served to students not eligible for free or reduced price meals (paying students).  Regulations require that we gradually increase paid lunch prices to the same level of revenue we receive from free reimbursement, or provide non-Federal funding to cover the difference.  A waiver is provided if we have revenue in excess of three months operating expenses, which we do not have at this time.  The requirement is to increase prices by at least 10 cents per year.  We have not increased the price of paid student meals since the 2008-2009 school year.  Adult lunch prices must follow a formula based on student prices, so an increase for adult meals is also requested.
